"Love Alarm Season 2" is a 2021 series in Netflix which stars Kim So Hyun as Kim Jo-jo, Song Kang as Hwang Sun Oh and Jung Ga Ram as Lee Hye Young. It is about a society which is influenced by a mobile application called Love Alarm. The users of the application can find love because they are notified of the people who are attracted to them within the 10 meter radius.
In Season 1, the female lead, Kim Jo-jo, befriended the developer of the application named Cheon Duk Gu who granted her wish to create a shield for her to hide her feelings. There were two classmates who liked her namely Hwang Sun Oh, a rich kid with a problematic family and Lee Hye Young, Sun Oh's childhood friend whose mother worked as a maid in Sun Oh's household. At that time, both Jo-jo and Sun Oh had feelings for each other but because Sun Oh's alarm didn't ring when Jo-jo was near him, Season 1 ended with him thinking that Jo-jo didn't like him.
The last episode of Season 1 was definitely a cliffhanger. If I had known that I had to wait a long time before Season 2 would be released, I wouldn't have watched it. In Season 1, I rooted for Jo-jo and Sun Oh. Hye Young was that second male lead who had unrequited love.
I finally watched the first 2 episodes of Season 2 a few days ago and it got me thinking that this might be like the korean drama, Start Up. Was this another heartbreaker like Ji Pyeong and Dal Mi's relationship? Why was the first episode more into Kim Jo-jo and Lee Hye Young's relationship?
Good thing I started browsing twitter after that.... SPOILER ALERT!!! I found out that Jo-jo and Hye Young ended up together, Hye Young wasn't the second male lead after all. Episode 1 of Season 2 gave a different vibe actually because after watching it, I was rooting for Jo-jo and Hye Young already. It was a relief for me because that meant I could go on watching the rest of the series without the heavy heart.
I'm so sorry, Sun Oh. Why depend so much on the Love Alarm application ? That was so shallow!
Sun Oh spent four years thinking about Jo-jo. He wasn't able to move on but he never confronted her. He totally missed his chance,

"Hello, Me!" is a 2021 is KBS series which stars Choi Kang Hee (43) as Ban Ha-ni and Kim Young Kwang (34) as Han Yoo Hyun. The series is about Ha Ni who is a 37-year old struggling single woman. She doesn't have a career to be proud of unlike her sister who is well-accomplished and rich. She is on the verge of giving up on her life when she suddenly meets her 17-year old self. Her younger self is energetic, driven and fearless while her older self is the complete opposite. With the help of her younger self, she is able to rediscover and love herself more to pursue her passion and dreams.
I came across these series while I was browsing Netflix. I saw Kang Hee in the poster and I thought that it would be a fun series to watch. True enough, I finished the first six episodes in two days. I must admit that Ha Ni as a 17-year old high school student in the first two episodes is a bit annoying to watch. I can see the usual enthusiasm that young kids have but at the same time she is also self-absorbed. The older Ha Ni, on the other hand, is more grounded perhaps because she has matured and has gone through a lot of experiences and hardships already.
Young Kwang also has an interesting character. Yoo Hyun is childish but he has a soft heart which is quite endearing. Yoo Hyun and Ha Ni met when they were young. She made a mark on him when she saved him from bullies. Several years after, Ha Ni ends up helping Young Kwang again. Ha Ni eventually gets a job in a company which Young Kwang's father owns.
I wonder how this series will end. Will this be another noona romance drama? I can't wait to watch the next episodes this week.
There's a different kind of thrill whenever I watch a guy fall in love with an older woman in korean dramas. In the beginning, I would always wonder if the actors can pull off a love story with a big age difference between the characters. But these kind of korean dramas never disappoint me. I always end up drawn to the characters.
Here are my top three noona romance korean dramas:
1. Romance Is A Bonus Book -
This is a 2019 series which stars Lee Jong Suk (31) as Cha Eun Ho and Lee Na Young (42) as Kang Dan-I. Eun Ho and Dan-I were childhood friends. Eun Ho was particularly fond of Dan-I but Dan-I married another guy. Fast forward to adulthood, Eun Ho became a writer and an editor of a book publishing company. Dan-I became an unemployed divorcee. She ended up getting a job at Eun Ho's company as a temporary task support team member. During her struggle to reenter the professional world, Eun Ho was always there for her and she eventually found out that he was in love with her.
2. Something In The Rain
This is a 2018 series which stars Jung Hae In (32) as Seo Joon Hee and Son Ye Jin (39) as Yoon Jin Ah. It is about Jin Ah, a 35-year old coffee shop supervisor who fell in love with Joon Hee, a friend of her younger brother. Joon Hee worked abroad and when he returned to Korea, he reconnected with Jin Ah whom he had a crush on for a long time. Jin Ah eventually fell in love with him and they had to struggle to keep their relationship intact despite disapproval from their families due to the age difference.
3. Encounter
This is a 2018 series which stars Park Bo Gum (27) as Kim Jin Hyuk and Song Hye Kyo (39) as Cha Soo Hyun. It is about Soo Hyun, a daughter of a prominent politician who was forced to marry a guy from a rich family. She eventually got divorced and received DongHwa Hotel as alimony. She met Jin Hyuk, a simple and free-spirited young man, during a business trip in Cuba. They became close and fell in love. Conflict started when Jin Hyuk became an employee of DongHwa Hotel where Soo Hyun was the CEO.

I recently watched BTS in MTV Unplugged. The group performed their songs, "Dynamite", "Telepathy", "Blue & Grey" and "Life Goes On". They also did a cover of Coldplay's "Fix You". The songs featured the vocal range of each member. This combination of voices makes the group stand out from other kpop groups. It got me thinking how it would be hard to lose even just one member in case one of them needs to enter the mandatory military service.
My fave performance was "Life Goes On".
King Cheol Jong is love! 😍 I just love Kim Jung Hyun's character in "Mr Queen". He has this charisma as king in the Joseon Dynasty that I almost didn't recognize him in "Welcome to Waikiki". 😂 But I guess I need to continue watching "Welcome to Waikiki" and probably I'll eventually like his character, Kang Dong Gu. 😁
"Hera, The Goddess of Revenge" is a 2020 korean drama which stars Yoon Hyun Min and Kim Sa Rang. The story revolves around Kang Hera and Cha Min Joon who want to take revenge on those people who have caused suffering in their lives.
This drama is a bit different from the usual dramas that I've watched because it is not a love story. There's a hint of a possible romance between Hera and Min Joon but the main focus is their struggle to find justice.
I came across this drama because of Yoon Hyun Min. I recently watched him in "To All The Guys Who Loved Me" and "My Holo Love" so when I found out he had another drama, I immediately put it in my watch list.
This series in available in VIU.
My star rating for this drama is 3 out of 5.
